At BASE, our unwavering commitment is to help students uncover and maximize their potential. Recognizing the complexities of guiding teenagers, BASE recently organized a seminar titled “How to Handle Teenagers” aimed at providing parents with the tools and insights necessary to support their adolescent children effectively. This event, held at two separate venues—BASE PU College on HD Kote Road and Youth Hostel in Vijayanagar, Mysuru—drew a significant number of parents eager to learn and engage.
Ms. Lakshmi Murthy, the Academic Head at BASE Mysuru, led the seminar. Her expertise and understanding of teenage behavior provided a valuable perspective for the attending parents. The seminar’s primary focus was to delve into the unique needs of teenagers and offer practical advice on addressing these needs. Ms. Murthy emphasized the importance of empathy, patience, and effective communication in fostering a supportive environment for teenagers.

The session was interactive, allowing parents to ask questions and share their experiences. This dialogue created a sense of community among the parents, who found reassurance in knowing that they were not alone in facing these challenges. The seminar helped demystify the teenage years, offering strategies to handle common issues such as mood swings, academic pressure, and peer influence.
Feedback from the attendees was overwhelmingly positive. Shifa Parveen, a mother of one of the students, expressed her appreciation, saying, “It was a wonderful session. I am eagerly waiting for more sessions in the future.” Her sentiments were echoed by Sushma, another parent, who remarked, “As far as my knowledge, I thought these were small things for us, but after attending the session, I came to know how to handle my kids and where to give priority to them.”
This seminar underscored the vital role that informed and engaged parenting plays in the development of teenagers. BASE’s initiative in conducting such sessions highlights our dedication to not only the academic growth of students but also the holistic well-being of their families. By bridging the gap between parents and their teenage children, we aim to create a nurturing environment where every student can thrive.
