
Arasikere, May 31: On a vibrant day in Arasikere, a Walkathon for World No Tobacco Day began at the Government Hospital, featuring prominent local figures such as Dr. Timmaraju, District Health Officer; Dr. Mohammed Ismail Sharief, a Radiation Oncologist at Malnad Cancer Hospital (MHIO), Srinivas, MHIO’s Chief Accountant, Hassan district health dept and Arasikere taluk Health Dept. Joined by various educational and health officials, they led the procession through B.H. Road, concluding at Venkateshwara Kala Bhavan.


The event was marked by the active participation of students from local schools and colleges, ASHA social workers, and other health department officials. Together, they distributed pamphlets and raised public awareness about the dangers of tobacco use.

Highlighting the event, Dr. Sharief delivered an empowering speech on the detrimental effects of tobacco, emphasizing the global mission to protect children from the tobacco industry’s influence. His message resonated with the crowd, reinforcing the community’s commitment to promoting a healthier, tobacco-free environment.
