Kerala, Wayand, 4th Aug 2024: In the heart of Chamarajanagara District, the Rehbar Association, a dedicated NGO, has been tirelessly serving the poor and needy for the past decade. This group, driven by compassion and commitment, recently took on an extraordinary challenge to aid the victims of the devastating Wayanad landslide.

The tragedy struck Wayanad with ferocity, leaving destruction and sorrow in its wake. In response, 13 brave youths from the Rehbar Association sprang into action. They volunteered their time and energy, collecting donations to provide much-needed relief to those affected. With remarkable efficiency, they gathered 120 bags of rice, clothes for men, women, and children, slippers, diapers, vegetables, medicines, and other essential items.

Rehbar Association Secretary Furkhan shared the harrowing situation with Mediagraam News. “The devastation in Wayanad and Mappadi is overwhelming,” he said. “With the help of the army, we have recovered 50 bodies and provided them with proper cremation. Our work is far from over as we continue to search for those still missing.”

The Kerala government and the Indian Army have been instrumental in managing the disaster and supporting the volunteers. Furkhan expressed deep gratitude for their efforts, noting, “The Indian Army is playing a major role in aiding the victims, and NGOs and associations from around the country are stepping in to support their efforts.”

The task at hand is daunting. The search for bodies is a grueling process, often involving digging through roots, rocks, and debris. Yet, the young volunteers from Rehbar Association remain undeterred, driven by their mission to bring solace to the grieving families.
