RAGA Takes Charge as Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha

Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge and other senior leaders have congratulated Rahul Gandhi.

New Delhi: Rahul Gandhi, lovingly called RAGA, has stepped up as the Leader of the Opposition Lok Sabha. This post been empty for ten years! His party, Congress, bumped up its seats from 52 to 99 this time around, meeting the required number.

Now RAGA has big responsibilities like helping pick key officials such as the CBI director or Chief Election Commissioners. Usually, the government picks them, but with RAGA on board, the opposition gets a say too!

This is a special for the Gandhis – Rahul is now the third family member in this post. His dad and mom held this role before.

During his first day on the job, RAGA switched up his style by wearing a white kurta-pajama instead of his usual white t-shirt and pants. He greeted Prime Minister Modi and others warmly, showing a nice moment of friendship.

Speaking in the House, RAGA talked about how crucial it is for the opposition to have a say in Lok Sabha. He stressed working together based on trust and listening to India’s voice. Plus, he highlighted defending the Constitution by letting everyone speak up.

RAGA’s leadership marks a new phase in Lok Sabha, showing a strong opposition all set to play a vital part in India’s democracy.
