Singer KK dies after performing at a concert in Kolkata

Kolkata, May 31: The music world woke up to the shocking news of the sudden passing away of popular singer Krishnakumar Kunnath, popularly known as KK in Kolkata on Tuesday. The 53-year-old singer is survived by his wife and two children.

KK was performing at a concert in Gurudas College at Nazrul Mancha in Kolkata for about an hour during which he complained of uneasiness and left for his hotel room. Sources said that KK collapsed soon after reaching the hotel and was rushed to a nearby hospital where the doctors declared him ‘brought dead’.

Doctors at the hospital suspect ‘cardiac arrest’ to be the cause of death. However, an autopsy would be conducted on Wednesday to ascertain the exact reason for the sudden demise of the singer. KK’s wife and children are expected to reach Kolkata for the autopsy.

Many political leaders and celebrities expressed their condolences. Prime Minister Narendra Modi in his tweet said KK would be remembered through his popular songs.

Apart from the Prime Minister, Vice President Venkaiah Naidu, Union Home Minister Amit Shah, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, Singer-turned-Politician Babul Supriyo, Bollywood Producer Karan Johar and other have expressed their shock over the sudden demise of Singer KK.
